The late Sher Ali Mollah
1915-1998: The late Sher Ali Mollah was born on 23 April 1915 in the village of Aruabarni in Chitalmari Union to an aristocratic Muslim family. He was the manager of Sher-e-Bangla Ake Fazlul Huq's uncle Samshunnesa Waqf State. Sher Ali Mollah was the President and Chairman of Chitalmari Union Board and Chitalmari Union Parishad for 24 consecutive years. Although he was a district level Muslim League leader in his early life, he played a glorious role for the liberation war in 1971. Under his leadership, Chitalmari was declared a free zone during the war of liberation in 1971. She played a leading role in establishing various religious and social institutions including Sher-e-Bangla Degree College, Bangabandhu Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Chitalmari SM Secondary School, Sammilani Secondary School. He died on December 3, 1997.
